AN assemblyman has urged the Federal Government to consider repainting the police quarters in Penang.

Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong Khan Lee claimed that the premises were in a bad state and in urgent need of up-grading.

Ong said this to reporters at the launch of the repainting project for the Rifle Range flats which would be completed in about four months’ time.

“We are starting with Block F first and will proceed with the rest of the blocks.

“Apart from repainting, work will also be done to touch up the cracks in the building,” said Ong.

He added that the cost of the repainting project for Block F was RM240,000.

Also present at the ceremony was state Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.

A resident, 47, who wanted to be identified as Ooi, said that he was happy that the flats were finally going to be given a facelift.

“These flats have not been painted in a very long time and look so old and dirty now,” said the businessman.

Hawker Khaw Eng Leong, 50 said that the flats had been an eyesore for a long time.

“I can’t wait to see the new look of the flats,” he said.

打槍埔F座將率先被粉刷。

　（檳城10日訊）打槍埔9棟組屋今日開始油漆，預計4個月后完工。

　植物園區州議員王康立指出，率先被油漆的是F座組屋，接下來承包商還會粉刷其余8棟組屋。

　他說，該組屋油漆費用為24萬令吉，不過居民無需承擔任何粉刷費用，因州政府承擔80%粉刷費，另20%則由贊助商贊助。

　“按照時間表，粉刷工程是在3個月內完工，不過由于最近雨季，恐拖慢工程，因此我們預計在4個月后完工。”

　他也說，粉刷工程並不簡單，承包商需要先清洗牆壁及修補牆壁裂縫等。

　他今早與檳州房屋發展委員會主席黃漢偉為粉刷組屋主持開幕儀式時，如是指出。

　此外，黃漢偉說，州政府除了粉刷打槍埔，同時也粉刷甘榜馬來由組屋。

　“州政府自2009年開始，每年撥出1000萬令吉提升州內政府組屋。”

　另外，他也批評植物園區前任州議員柯維雄在任期間，不止讓打槍埔101間豆干屋被拆除，也讓打槍埔組屋單位遭空置多年。

　“我知道他任職民政黨檳州房屋局主任時，真是很驚訝，他應該去照照鏡子。”

　他說，反觀州政府在這3年內，不僅安排有需要居民入住打槍埔，同時更換打槍埔排污管，並將前朝政府擱置的7個房屋計劃重新啟動。
